|Notes||The above information from Ripley Parish Magazine November 1915. Article also states that Madame Tengels and family had left Ripley, Surrey and were now in London. The family had written to thank subscribers in Ripley and Ockham for their generous kindness, hospitality and sympathy.
This could have been one of the families mentioned in the Woking News & Mail newspaper on 8 October 1914:
'Two families of Belgian refugees arrived at Grove Heath Farm, Ripley [Surrey] on Wednesday and were given a hearty welcome by the villagers....The two families are being supported by collections made weekly among the villagers.'|
